I mean, the science fiction part, not the story part. The time scale of the story (the circumstances that lead to the science fiction setting, really) is so epic, that it would be hard to write the story through the eyes of protagonists without them being so disconnected from each other that the story would be completely disjointed.
I mean, we're talking about a story where a civilization discovers something about themselves / their world on an evolutionary time scale. The backstory is what interests me - what would primitive peoples believe about their world when it's covered in obvious alien artifacts - but only people with 20th-century technology would be able to get to the reveal - what exactly were the aliens up to when they abandoned all this tech here?
The task just seems so daunting.
Maybe I should tackle your n00b Final Solution story instead.
I'm not sure that would be a fanfic, though...
