I have seen neither here recently (not that I have been much) but most (probably all) CMB regulars remember them well and fondly, and surely recall the trauma both experienced coming to terms with and asserting their identities. When categorically demonizing people others care about, expect them to respond accordingly. Maybe you should have moved over to the CMB sooner (or not…;) next try excoriating threadjackers, community fiction authors and small marsupials or rodents.
Yet, personal histories aside, we are not discussing appendectomies: Presenting oneself with different clothes and anatomy in front of family, friends and colleagues is an experience I cannot even imagine, let alone doing so PERMANENTLY. No one does it casually, it is not your problem in any sense, and they face more than enough problems already, so you have no place becoming yet another.
Oh, and by the bye: Government has not "taken over 1/6th of the economy" any more than states mandating PRIVATE insurance for all drivers "took over" that part of the economy. US health care SPENDING is (more than) 1/6th of GDP, but talk to PRIVATE insurance companies about that; their annual cost growth is several times that of Medicare, and Medicare has only marginally expanded (and only in the few states that deigned to let the federal government keep their poorest citizens alive.) Contrary to Palins rants, government forbids no one healthcare, though it can refuse to PAY for some procedures, just as all private insurers have done for decades with no GOP complaints.
