It's because this was Federally imposed on Massachusetts. The Shrike Send a noteboard - 19/05/2015 04:10:00 PM

Mass./Boston tends to be kinda Blue when it comes to stuff of this nature...so I'm kinda impressed that they decided to put their big boy pants on and execute the man for his crime.

Granted, he did go after the Boston Marathon...so that would piss them off something fierce.

But well...we'll see what happens between here and there...

Massachusetts does not believe in the death penalty. And the majority of residents of Massachusetts oppose giving Tsarnaev the death penalty as well - either because of no belief in death penalty or because they want to see this dude rot in jail for the next 80 years. So the jury pool became very narrow due to the idea of the death penalty.

As an aside, the last execution in Massachusetts was in 1947.

It's not surprising at all, since you can't serve on the jury if you're against the death penalty. *NM* - 17/05/2015 05:21:34 AM 131 Views
