You have no investment in the system, you did not spend any energy, any time, any passion, any moment etc, and thus have no emotional connection to the system. You want a better world but by not participating as long as someone does not royally screw up the world you are just apathetic to changes in your environment until it affects you in a personal direct way.
The thing is all the non apparent things also affect you in profound ways. How about the quality of your local schools and thus your property value and the character of the neighborhood. How about whether you can get healthcare or not due to a pre-existing condition. How about whether we are involved in another war and how prepared we were for it. I can go on but I think you get the point.
There is nothing wrong with you not wanting to make dramatic changes for you do not know the consequences. That is conservatism, but if you have no investment at all then your brain is hardwired due to biology to never try to make the place better. And there are so many easy things we can do to make the world better, but also very hard things we need to do.
Now understand government and by extension politics (since politics runs the government) is not the only way you can effect society and the greater community. It is just one of the easiest and simplest ways.
