You could hate Bush or love him, but no one doubted that he (or at least his administration) was actually running the country. At the present time, Obama seems incapable of taking any actions that would allow him to even pretend to be a leader. This growing feeling that America is adrift is something that people in both parties are feeling and it has little to do with partisanship and far more to do with Obama's singular lack of qualification to be President. The Democratic Party will almost certainly rally around the Clintons immediately after the midterm elections, when Obama will have absolutely nothing to offer to anyone anymore.
