And I have to admit, I'm not very happy with the way they've handled the recall for my car. I got a letter in the mail stating that it was under recall, but they don't currently have the necessary part in for replacement yet. Jump to three weeks later: I called the dealer to see when they thought they'd get the part in, since I need to drive cross-country soon and I'm totally sketched out to take my car on the highway.

Their reply? "Oh, you need to schedule an appointment AND THEN WE'LL ORDER THE PART FOR YOU." (Emphasis mine)

They're still trying to save themselves money by not actually ordering the parts unless drivers specifically ask them to. Really ticked me off.

All switches previously on the shelves and in warehouses were quarantined, so they really didn't have any parts. Apparently, parts are now being produced and shipped as of about a week ago. As far as your 2007, apparently it was in late 2006 that GM started putting the stronger design parts in, so you probably have the better part already (the recall part is a third design that is even stronger). For now, about all you can do is take any fobs or extra keys, etc. off your vehicle key chain so as to not put any extra weight on the ignition cylinder and switch.
