The junk they used in Chechnya was laughable... everynametaken Send a noteboard - 16/03/2014 01:51:28 AM

The vehicles I see them using in Crimea are much more modern and closer to on par with some of our military transportation. Their air defense systems are of a real concern to Israel and even us which is why we flipped the F out when they arrived in Syria and why we are very concerned that they have been sold to Iran. They may have even played a role in dissuading the President from authorizing a strike, if our planes were shot down it would have been Jimmy Carter all over for the President. I'm also surprised at how many people think the Russians use AK-47s when they in fact use AK-74Ms and are now in the process of replacing those with the newer AK-100 series, several of which chamber the NATO 5.56mm round. I;m not sure about their navy, but I seem to remember a few years ago they bought one or two bad ass destroyers from France that are supposedly the best on the seas, but don't quote me on that. I would figure they are no slouch on the open seas. I think our air force is far superior, our planes, logistics and personnel cannot be matched worldwide. I seem to remember reading the Russians also now have developed their own stealth fighters as well. Needless to say, I think too many people think of the Russians as being stuck in some 80s Cold War (Cold & Hungry!) military tech and morale while we have moved on into the 21st Century. Simply not true, they have their shortcomings still but they have some badass goodies too.

But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...

It's a little more complicated than that, I think. - 01/03/2014 07:42:20 PM 761 Views
It's always more complicated... - 01/03/2014 08:57:54 PM 755 Views

Well, we split on that then - I most certainly do not support such an annexation. - 01/03/2014 10:25:48 PM 701 Views
Any reason you keep misspelling Sevastopol? - 02/03/2014 12:52:01 AM 891 Views
You write "the Ukraine", while calling me old-fashioned? - 02/03/2014 01:57:58 AM 762 Views
Yes. Dropping "the" is an anti-Russian move. It will always be the Ukraine. - 02/03/2014 02:58:32 AM 766 Views
Just because there's an article in Russian doesn't mean there has to be one in English. - 02/03/2014 11:21:25 AM 712 Views
I say the Sudan and the Congo. - 02/03/2014 02:17:33 PM 757 Views

So what's your plan of action? - 03/03/2014 11:25:59 PM 716 Views
My plan of action is to let Putin have Ukraine. We have no interests there. *NM* - 04/03/2014 01:29:45 AM 433 Views
Ehem. Why are you being anti-Russian? ;-) - 04/03/2014 01:25:37 PM 742 Views

Yes, the US violated the agreement. - 06/03/2014 07:27:23 PM 788 Views
I have answered your question but you have still refused to answer my point - 07/03/2014 01:48:53 PM 721 Views
You assume that the Ukraine's borders should be inviolate. - 09/03/2014 05:56:45 PM 723 Views
Russia signed an agreement to not violate those borders - 10/03/2014 12:18:37 PM 687 Views
Oh, and now the West is talking about $15 billion in loans for Ukraine. - 05/03/2014 11:41:12 PM 682 Views
And you see that as the same thing as sending in troops? - 06/03/2014 01:37:28 PM 687 Views
I think you've listened to too much propaganda from the 1990s. - 06/03/2014 03:06:18 PM 654 Views
More like the 80s - 07/03/2014 01:50:43 PM 699 Views
