There are some federal and state requirments for such things but most companies offer compeditive benfit packages to attract and retain the best workers. Training and recruiting are expensive so the majority of companies try to keep their turnover as low as possible. This becomes less true for lower skill jobs but even fastfood companies want to attract and keep quality workers.
