I'm sure there are people here who know more about this sort of thing than I do: I need to buy a video/audio combo, for less than EUR 200. This should be possible. I was thinkong of just buying a normal digital camera (Sony, whatever), which has decent video. It's not for professional use, it just needs to look alright. When I used my own Sony, the quality is enough, even if I can ise a bit better zoom en maybe a mount. And probably a good flash, instead of the "direct light on everything" of what I have now.

The problem, though, is audio. I generally notice that mics on cameras are terrible and if I want to make a clip (YouTube quality) I want the sound (which will be mostly talking) to be good.

What kind of ideas do you have? Can I use a mic as they are sold for online gaming? Is there a good mic (preferably not fixed to the camera) that I can use in combination with a camera?

Any input is appreciated.

And if we want a decent sound, like when interviewing people, we connect them to our Sony cameras via XLR cable. Like you said, the cam's atmo sound is usually nothing to write home about.
I have no idea about costs though, sorry, since we get our equipment from the Landeszentrale für Medien und Kommunikation.
