View original postAlright, this is the sort of thing that the site of old used to be very good for. I'm in a bit of an existential crisis. I had iPad 2 for 2 years; it was a present. It broke, I got a free replacement, but my data was lost. So in a fit of ire, I gave it away to a friend and vowed not to buy any more Apple products.
View original postNow I need a replacement. I use a tablet primarily for Internet browsing, and also for taking notes. It's great if I can read books on it too. I decided to go with a smaller size tablet because the iPad was too heavy to carry every day.
View original postAfter some research, I bought Nexus 7. I don't know if I like it. The screen is very small, but I guess that's to be expected. I feel like it's too bright and causes more eye strain. After using it for 6 hours last night, my eyes are tired this morning. The Kindle app is very awkward, very difficult to highlight a word (poor touch sensitivity). Battery life is significantly worse than iPad, even though it's smaller. Yet everything I read told me that it's the best tablet.
View original postWhat should I do? I've had Nexus for 2 days. I always hate new things. I think I can try to return it, but then what? What tablets have you used and loved/hated?
View original postThis morning I was thinking, I wish there was a tablet with an e-ink screen. Not bright, gentle on the eyes, large font, well-proportioned, responsive screen. Another alternative is to get something very cheap, and then I can't complain - at least it's cheap.
View original postDo I have a size problem? Maybe I need a bigger size? I do wish there were more tablets the size of the mini iPad - bigger than 7 inches, smaller than 10.
View original postHelp.
Buying a tablet - please chime in (from iPad to Nexus 7 to ?)

Can't you adjust the screen brightness?

The minimum brightness on Nexus is much higher than the min on iPad

Oh. That's no good. The "night" setting might just be the app I'm using, but others might have it. *NM*

What should you do? Realize you're being illogical.

I have a Nexus 7 since a few months, I'm quite happy with it.

As I understand it, the Kindle Fire is a normal tablet - no Kindle-like eyestrain-less screen

A quick correction: 8 inch is a very popular tablet size these days.

The Nexus 7 is definitely the best bang for the buck. Maybe try to fix the problems you're having?

I've had the Nexus 7 for a while, and find it difficult to fault.

I've had it on standby with minimal use for 1 days, and the battery is 1/2 gone.
