Thank you for this. More information than I can process in one go, but I think might ask you a question about Spanish again maybe in a month. Just one follow up for now:
View original postDudo que él tenga el libro. I doubt that he has the book. (Expresses doubt)
View original postNo dudo que él tiene el libro. I don't doubt that he has the book. (No doubt, no subjunctive)
Are you sure it isn't backwards? I seem to remember various questions like "Do you have a boyfriend?" start with "Tienes". Isn't that an expression of uncertainty?
NSSP: I'm learning Spanish!

You'll probably be fluent in about 6 months at most. It's easy.

You will need to learn the subjunctive. Very much so.

Ah, but a question isn't a statement of uncertainty. It's a request for information.

Italian is one of those languages I've never wanted to learn.

There isn't enough Renaissance-era literature that you want to read?

Nope. Not too interested in the literature of the area. Not enough to learn the language

I think that is a very subjective question.

You would like Leopardi's thoughts on the two languages found within his Zibaldone

I will have to look in my copy of the Zibaldone on that one.

I want to say it's in the late 3000s, early 4000s, but I'm uncertain

Bolivia is pretty amazing and has a good exchange rate, though you'll need a visa. *NM*
