There is an important distinction. If your highest belief is that killing is wrong, then you will let someone else kill you before taking action against them. If your belief is that life is of the highest value, then killing isn't necessarily wrong, it's just not justified for any reason save the protection of other life. And if that's the case, I don't see a contradiction between the two views at all. Perhaps we can end this thread here before people launch into the endlessly rehashed abortion and gun arguments?
