View original postShould he spend time discussing Kim Kardashian's child? There are things with which a President should concern himself. A homicide trial is not one of them. A tragedy happened. If he wants to deal with the omnipresent specter of race in America, there are better methods than comparing himself to Martin. Let the dead lie. As you can see in the posts in this thread, people are quick to attack the deceased; I doubt they would be so inclined if this case were not so politically charged.
I agree with much of what you said here, but I don't think Obama concerned himself with the trial - I think he concerned himself with the people who are seriously upset because they don't understand the outcome. People who are demonstrating and protesting - actions that seem serious enough that we'd expect the president to speak up. Of course, I have the luck not to have been in the states for all of the drama, so it may all hit me differently.
View original postIt's late and I am not writing well. Suffice it to say that I have grown very tired of the moral outrage displayed by people whose sole contribution to social justice is their annual donation to the food bank. I am probably unfairly taking this exasperation out on you.
Well, I don't feel attacked, but even if I did absolutely nothing to support social justice, arguing against the attitudes I see in this post should count for something. If anything, I hope I managed to make people think. Just to satisfy my curiosity though, what kind of things do you do?
