One can always make the case that everything is politics, but I'd disagree, I don't think individual trials which aren't of elected officials or senior appointees, or not a specific civil rights trial headed for SCOTUS or similar really belong in the daily headlines non-stop. Trials shouldn't be secret, but 24/7 news cycles are unnecessary and improper when court records and transcripts are already freely available to the entire world of all trials held in this country.
There is a lot of venom in politics, and a lot of soapboxing, but those can be justified as impassioned people speaking out about their rights, their taxation, their nation's policies, not whether or not John Smith of no public office is guilty of shoplifting for stealing a loaf of bread, etc. Such concepts can be important and valid in the public theater but need not revolve around specific real humans. I don't need to bring up a specific murder to discuss our laws on murder.
