In fact, Martin has never done anything wrong, but yet vocal supporters of Zimmerman, such as yourself, have done everything they can to try to retroactively make Martin out to be a thug, a criminal, and not worthy of the human dignity afforded Zimmerman.
The question is why must Martin automatically have zero chance of self-defense, but yet Zimmerman's story is swallowed whole as though it were handed down from on high by God himself? See my reply above about how Zimmerman and Martin should have interacted. Ask yourself why it did not play out that way. Go speak to any black male in this country and ask them what they do when police officers or random strangers follow them or treat them with suspicion. I guarantee that every single one of them will have a method of avoiding suspicion, and that almost every one of them will have at least one story of having done nothing wrong but getting detained regardless of their innocence.
The fact that (a) Martin is automatically assumed to be a criminal despite being only armed with Skittles and a soft drink and (b) Zimmerman's story has been widely accepted as fact despite the glaring lies and conflicts is even more example of the type of racism and ignorance that says it's OK to follow black people, report them as suspicious and even shoot them dead if you can concoct a flimsy story to justify your self-defense narrative.
Again, at some point a black person will be able to walk home from the store without being thought of as a criminal, or in the process of committing a crime. The Zimmerman verdict shows that we are nowhere near seeing this kind of privilege that most whites take for granted, and that there is still a lot more to be done to get there.
