View original postThe 8/track player was still barely in use during my childhood. My mom had one in an old T bird we had. The record player was a staple of my elementary school days. The cassette player then hit it big, and then obviously CDs. Now MP3 players are replacing CDs. The crazy thing is, I'm only 40. It was just a crazy thought I had while shuffling iPod to see what my top 25 is lately.

I've kind of lived through two phases of obsolescence. Obviously CDs have boomed and busted in the last 21 years, but tapes were still certainly big until I was well into primary school.

I like records and occasionally listen to my parents collections at home.

I have used an 8 track but purely out of curiosity than any intrinsic enjoyment of it. When I moved into my current house one of my roommates found an 8 track in the roof and we played it for a laugh.
