Some of you will already know this from Facebook. About nine months ago I started writing seriously again after several wasted years. Last summer I submitted a short story to an anthology project, in December I learned that my story was accepted for publication, and now the official announcement is out for the book, which is scheduled to be published within the next week in both e-book and trade paperback formats.
The book is from Seventh Star Press, a small fantasy publisher based in Lexington, Kentucky. The anthology is titled The End Was Not the End: Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy Tales. It's a collection of eleven stories about worlds that have already ended, and what happens after. My tale is called "Story's End", and features as the closing entry for the anthology.
For those of you who have been around a while, former wotmaniac CNRedDragon is being published in this anthology as well. The two of us have been helping each other with writing since 2002, so being published for the first time together is terribly exciting.
I'm not here soliciting people to buy the book (though if you would like to do so in order to read my story, that would be lovely and I would receive royalties for it). I had to post this here because the original wotmania was where I cut my teeth with several short stories and writing projects back in the day, and the encouragement I received has always meant a lot to me as I worked to improve my skills over the years.
If you would like to see the official release, which includes the cover art and the full story list, you'll find it at the link below.
a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any.
You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking,
somebody'll sneak up and write "F*ck you" right under your nose.
