Votto and Morneau are sort of the poster boys of Canadian baseball. Nate Send a noteboard - 15/03/2013 06:08:51 PM

Fans want the Blue Jays to go after Morneau all the time. And looking at Votto, as I just did, I didn't realize he was already 29 (says the guy who is only two months younger than Votto). He'll need to have very consistent, high-production years for the rest of his career if he wants a shot at the Hall, I guess, since he's still under a thousand career hits at this point.

Other active Canadian players of note include Russell Martin, poor Jason Bay, Ryan Dempster, and John Axford. There's also a pitcher named Ryan Braun who's Canadian, but sadly he's not that Ryan Braun. Eric Gagne was Canadian, and then there are a bunch of others who probably aren't terribly noteworthy.

Then we've got Steve Nash in the NBA, but really, it's sort of an anomaly when we produce an exceptional player for any major team sport other than hockey. We produce some bitchin' figure skaters, downhill skiers, and curlers, though.

Don't join if you root for Duke, though. Duke sucks. - 15/03/2013 06:04:31 PM 636 Views
You should put this up on the baseball page. - 19/03/2013 09:31:08 PM 938 Views
