View original postAfter all, Bashar al-Assad is alive but embattled, and it's unclear whether or not he will, or will be able to, flee Syria when the end comes. Most people seem to think the end will come before the New Year, but not everyone even agrees on that. Taking bets on him would be the ultimate challenge.

We could take bet on which date they'll get a new Pope, and from which continent it would be.

Mind you, it's really getting old where I live; I was most happy with Chavez's death because it distracted the media from discussing all day the odds the dreaded Cardinal Ouellet gets elected (though it provided good opportunity for Fatima/"Poor Canada" and St. Malachie jokes).

Waging on Al-Assad is damn hard. I can hardly believe he's still there.
