If you could go back in time a restrict hand guns before they became so widespread you may have been able to may have had affect but the laws they are trying to pass now will do nothing to curb the gun violence mentioned and will only restrict the rights of legal guns owners. They want to use the slaughter of innocent children as catalyst to pass the laws they want but then they look at you like you have grown a third out if you point out that none of the laws they are proposing would have prevented the attack. Sorry but I am not willing to give up rights just to give a bunch of wanabe do-gooders a warm fuzzy.
