how many responsible owners are going to be selling out of the trunk of their car? moondog Send a noteboard - 06/02/2013 06:02:43 PM
If you drill down a little all but 228 of those deaths were males being shot. The reason for that is that a huge percentage are directly related to drug trade. Requiring background checks at gunshows will not have much impact on people who buy stolen guns out of the trunks of cars.

yeah sure, criminals will still find guns somehow, but i like to assume that responsible gun owners won't sell their weapons out of the trunk of their car knowing they could be liable for its use if it goes to someone who commits a crime. and also knowing that they could be prosecuted for a federal crime for not submitting a background check for the buyer.

again, it's about *reducing* the violence not *stopping*. we will never stop the violence but we can and should do everything we can to minimize its impact on everyone.

That is a tragic number but the laws they are proposing would have stopped very few of those deaths - 06/02/2013 05:53:48 PM 743 Views
