even if we dont lose more things to deliberate acts of destruction, who is to say a random fire, or earthquake or storm cant come through and wipe things out. it happened here after Sandy, i know a couple people who lost Picassos in flooding or fires during the storm. I always think every time we lose ancient books or species of trees in the Amazon, like what if that book or that plant was the cure for cancer. or what if it held an ancient secret that could change the course of history...very sad at this loss in Mali.
It just takes time, especially if the books and letters were in poor condition.
