I asked if a shoot out between mother and son had been better, not whether she should have killed Helene Send a noteboard - 29/12/2012 08:54:09 PM
her son.

And since she was dead by the time he killed the children, and she had no way of knowing what he would set out to do...

I think it's still better that she didn't kill him. That's because she's not responsible for his actions. She's responsible for her own actions and she couldn't have known he would go out and kill 26 people. Killing him would have made her a murderer and not the savior of those people. Because no one would know.

Do you even have children? If so, have you ever sat up at night and worried about how you were raising them? Have you asked "Am I teaching them the right values?" Have you wondered and worried about what type of person they have, or will, become? IT AIN'T FUN.

I have a 12 year old son. He's a good kid and I'm not particularly worried. Of course, he's about to hit puberty, so I'm not in the clear yet.

YOU asked a question that is a parent's worst damn nightmare. I answered you, and then you ATTEMPT to make fun of me for it.

You turned my question into a parents' worst nightmare. I asked about a shoot out, because the image is ridiculous to me. Is anyone able to say with a straight face that these types of situations are improved by guns?

For me the question would be simple though, I'd never kill my son.

I was always taught, and I teach my son the following (in this case it was about knives, as a kid from the neighborhood was walking around with a huge knife): don't bring a knife with you to protect yourself. If you get into a fight, suddenly it's a fight with a knife. Either you end up hurting someone, potentially badly, or you end up getting hurt by your own knife. Neither situation is something you want to happen.

When guns are a big national issue, how do reporters & pundits not know facts about them? - 21/12/2012 05:33:14 PM 1554 Views

you're largely correct, which is why we need stronger laws on ownership not guns per se - 21/12/2012 09:39:14 PM 842 Views

Laws against murder failed to prevent that, too; clearly they are ineffective and should be repealed - 22/12/2012 06:02:24 AM 998 Views
Such laws were never intended for prevention, they define actions that will be punished. *NM* - 23/12/2012 12:57:57 PM 567 Views
So do laws against getting a gun without screening, training and certification. - 23/12/2012 02:01:32 PM 818 Views
