i would like to see us go to an australian model where "self defense" is not a valid excuse to own a lethal weapon.
He said own, not use one you already own.
You can't get a gun licence on the grounds of self defence in Australia. If you have a licence for some other reason there are sometimes grounds for it to be used in self defence, however you can't own a gun on the grounds of self defence.
