but cursive no longer has the impact on formality it once did. In fact, most papers I've seen insist you print.

Teach legible writing. Enforce legible writing. But cursive is outdated and no one uses it in practical applications anymore. Yes it looks nice, but so does caligraphy.

It IS relevant in today's curriculum, though, because despite what many say, there is plenty of writing still in schools today.
