8 questions and 24 possible points, good luck!

1) This 1991 film, which has very little to do with quiet young sheep, revolves greatly around a humanitarian psychiatrist and his efforts to help a young FBI agent solve a serial killer case.

What was the name of the film?

Silence of the Lambs.

What was the name of psychiatrist?

Hannibal Lecter, who was featured in yesterdays QuickPoll.

What was the name of the actor who played him?

Anthony Hopkins (if you want it REALLY tough, ask who played the lead role in the first release of the prequel. ;))

2) The actor in the above case also starred in a 1999 film adaptation of a Shakespeare play, where he plays the lead character and hosts his Emperor for a feast where he displays his baking skills.

What was the shared name of the play, film, and character?

Titus Andronicus, which is made of win. :| My old Plan II English prof told us some believe it was one of Shakespeares first plays, evidenced by the fact it is practically a Renaissance slasher film. :P

Who played him?

Anthony Hopkins again.

What was the ‘item’ that he baked?

Hmm... I cannot recall whether it was his daughter or the emperors son (her rapist,) but believe it was the latter (forget his name; think it started with an "S.")

3) This barber, who first appeared in the 1846-47 serial “The String of Pearls: A Romance” was rather well known for the especially close shaves he gave some of his clients before passing them along to his friend, Mrs. Lovett, another innovative baker.

What was the name of the barber?

Presumably Sweeney Todd.

4) This 1973 Film set in a Dystopian Future famously ends with the character Thorn screaming to crowds about a product, “_______ ________ is people!”

What is the name of the product and film?

Soylent Green. They showed it on TCM here a few months ago, but my mom has it on VHS so I have seen it more than a few times.

Who played Thorn?

Charlton Heston, before he became NRA President and a right wing icon. If you told most of them Chuck Heston made a movie about the devastation wrought by global warming and pollution they would probably tell you to go back to Russia. :P

What was the name of the 1966 book that inspired the film?

Hmm, now that I do NOT know. :<img class=' />

5) This Classic 1961 Sci-Fi Novel revolves around a Martian who founds a religion by routinely telling people “Thou Art God” and regularly referring to dead people as food.

Name of the novel?

Stranger in a Strange Land

Name of the author?

Robert Heinlein

Name of the aforementioned character?

Dunno; never read it.

6) In this H.G Wells’ classic, the main character travels to a distant land where he meets two races of people, one who live above ground and one beneath, who have formed a surprisingly symbiotic relationship.

What was the name of the book?

The Time Machine

What was the name of the people who lived above ground?

Eloi, IIRC.

What was the name of the people who lived under ground?

Moorlocks

7) In the final book of this fantasy classic, the former White Wizard when asked about the fate of Lotho says, "Buried him, I hope; though Worm has been very hungry lately."

What was the name of the book series?

TLotR

The Author?

Professor Tolkien

The name of the former White Wizard?

Saruman, or Curufin if you prefer.

The name of the so-called ‘Worm’?

Grìma

8) This 2002 TV series by Joss Whedon featured a human faction that was described by one of the characters as, "If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins into their clothing – and if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order."

The aforementioned QotM

What was the name of the group?

The Reavers, I believe.

Name of the show?

Firefly.

Name of the spaceship most of the series took place on?

Serenity

Name of the Movie that followed the series?

I thought that was also Serenity.

Well, OK, apparently the film changed the pies contents from what Shakespeare (far more fittingly, IMHO) described, but I remembered them wrong regardless (been too long since I read that play, evidently.) However, since I was so certain of my recollection I did some googling and learned that, according to Wikipedia, British actor Brian Cox, who first played Hannibal Lecter on film, later played Titus onstage. Presumably whatever lead role he is playing now will be played by Anthony Hopkins in a major feature film of 2016. :P
