last time i checked (which is now years ago), Palestinians outnumbered Israelis 2:1 just on the basis of the occupied territories. for israel to remain "the jewish state" they would have to implement an apartheid state just to keep the status quo. i'm not sure either case has much traction at this point, and i highly doubt anyone is going to get any closer to solving it in the next 10 years either. i would hope that obama could put some pressure on israel now that the election is over, but i think netanyahu is determined not to listen to him no matter what anyway. US presidents do seem to place a lot of attention on israel/palestine when they are re-elected to second terms, we'll see if obama continues *that* tradition at least....
