Intentional abortion to save the life of the mother is performed in about 0.004% of all abortions (151 instances between 1967 & 1990).

Death of the mother during an abortion procedure occurs in approximaely 0.3% of all abortions.

In other words, dying because you had an abortion performed on you is about 1,000 times more likely than dying because one was NOT performed.

Regardless, both occurances are HIGHLY unlikely and should not be the basis for any discussion beyond "Damn, what a shame that happened to her."

Because to be honest are you really suggesting 3 in 1000 people die after having proper (in the medical sense, i.e not backstreet) abortions? Because I can show you a study published in February of this year in Obstetrics and Gynecology which puts that figure at 0.6 in every 100,000 (or 0.0006%).

All this without going into your flawed logic. I'm sure you can make the same argument with chemotherapy or some other procedure, yes you're more likely to die if you have chemotherapy than if you don't, however if you have cancer then those odds mean nothing to you.
