Thanks; I did want to know, but did not want to ASK since it is none of my business. Joel Send a noteboard - 08/11/2012 05:12:01 PM
I would be lying if I said I am not VERY curious who you are voting for in the IN Senate race, though you have no obligation to tell me what is none of my business.

I'm not secretive about my votes. I went Donnelly, but not because of the rape comment. I generally can't go the direction of the Tea Party, and I didn't exactly mind the Blue Dog stats on Donnelly. We'll see.

Indeed. One of the less discussed aspects of the Tea Partys rise is that while they were patting themselves on the back for slaughtering Blue Dogs in red states, they were also removing all the same moderate Dems most inclined to break with the party and vote with Republicans on fiscal and/or social issues. Most Dems left in Congress are pretty liberal now, as unwilling as Republicans to agree with opponents on ANYTHING, but they are mostly confined to equally liberal states where they are safe. The Tea Party really has done a magnificent job of purging moderates from BOTH parties. :[

That is the reasonable course, but is there anything(s) you prioritize over the rest? I understand though; I chose "economy" over "jobs" mainly because it is a lot more comprehensive, if less detailed.

I don't think I can choose a single topic anyway. I tend to go for attitude and willingness to work with others, unless there are glaring issues I can't ignore. I don't ever feel confident that I know what's best, so I look for those who try to be open-minded. As you can imagine, that frequently adds to my voting discomfort. :P

Yeah, ever moreso each day. The thing is, most smart people can fake open-mindedness with relative ease, but the knowledge and ability to discuss all sides of every issues only makes on informed, not necessarily open-minded. Ultimately, writing/voting on legislation is the only thing that matters anyway, and that is a lot easier to fake, because there is a record of all of it. Look at Rolands response to Ghav saying Brown was "OK for a Republican" because so moderate: He talks a good game, but voted with his party against "radical" things like Obamas jobs bill, and his re-election could have made Mitch McConnell Senate Majority Leader.
