Lesser of two evils; the Wonkette recently had an article about a Scott Adams article on that subject that I found insightful (I will link it.) Basically, Adams argued people should vote for Romney because Obama has not legalized weed and HAS enforced federal laws against it, which makes Romney the lesser evil. Even though Romney has publicly and strongly pledged to maintain all US laws against weed and oppose any efforts to relax them. As the Wonkette put it, Adams' position is that one should not re-elect a murderer (his analogy, not mine,) even if that means electing a serial killing mass murderer instead. Even as a liberal often critical of Obamas faux-liberalism and broken promises, I cannot help feeling that represents vindictively screwed up priorities.


Should be close, but Obama has the edge. He must run the table if he does not win FL, OH or VA, but Romney must run the table unless he wins FL, OH AND VA.


I would be lying if I said I am not VERY curious who you are voting for in the IN Senate race, though you have no obligation to tell me what is none of my business.


I am hardly objective, but think that the general trend. Until 2004, OH had been the GOP core since the Civil War, but the national partys decision to destroy the economy and make fundamentalist Christianity compulsory does not play well in the Midwest. Gay-bashing and millionaire tax cuts got Bush elected governor 20 years ago, and re-elected president 8 years ago, but could have devastating long term consequences for the national GOP.


That is the reasonable course, but is there anything(s) you prioritize over the rest? I understand though; I chose "economy" over "jobs" mainly because it is a lot more comprehensive, if less detailed.


I think the big story of the Bush years is Republicans losing the Midwest, except for MO. They had been surviving on OH and IN for years; losing OH, VA and NC leaves them with IN, MO, the Deep South and the Great Plains. That just is not enough for national viability. Their immigration policy is threatening to do to FL, AZ, NV and NM what Pete Wilson did to CA. With the economy showing signs of recovery (e.g. better jobs numbers, more new home sales, higher home prices, increased consumer confidence,) another Obama victory could leave us looking back on '08 as a historic realignment election. Depends on whether the GOP plays obstructionist for four more years and blames Romneys loss on being a faux conservative; going any farther right might doom their party.
