I don't want to get an ereader for that reason, because then I'd have to buy all the books over again and that would be crazy expensive. But the idea of a flood destroying my belongings, in particular my books and my computer, is a worrying thought for sure. I look at potential flood plains and issues when I think about a place to live. Of course, I could avoid all the flooding in the world and there's still the possibility of fire. And even if I had an ereader, it might get burned or flood-damaged as well. So overall I try not to think about it.

But in your case, having it actually happen, that's awful. I'm sorry to hear that. But at least the people are okay. Books are precious, but they can also be replaced. Well, most of them can.
