Which is often how it goes, as far as I can see - it's rather hard to remain bigoted about it when it's your own son or sibling (or parent) who is gay. Or pretends to be, either way.
Time and again my experience and that of many others has been that many people are indifferent to the problems of others as long as they remain the problems of OTHERS. Once it affects someone they know or, worse, themselves, they have a supposed sudden humanist epiphany that is really just enlightened self interest. That is shameful enough for anyone, but since Christ was the first to state the Golden Rule actively rather than passively it is particularly inexcusable in Christians. The revealing part of it is usually that they remain as indifferent as ever to problems they believe (rightly or not) still do not affect them.

I have to agree with that one. Most people come out in order to be more honest with their family.

Sorry, that is just an attempted role-reversal; objecting to hatred is not the "real hatred."

In addition, the bible doesn't forbid it. The bible is not a monolithic work, but an anthology.

I think he has a good point. It just shouldn't be generalized so far as he is doing.

Wrong. I am talking about labels and what they are used for.

We use "bigot" like Christians use "sinner."
