Suspected as much, but wanted to see if you thought so as well Larry Send a noteboard - 22/09/2012 03:47:05 AM
I think she became a proponent of Gnosticism quite some time ago, and now she writes the same book over and over again, which can be summed up as, "Christianity isn't what you think it is. It's all about you, and the terrible Church hierarchy wants to keep you down and hold you back." It's a very New-Age sort of spin on Christianity that even the ancient Gnostics would probably not approve of.

As such, she's "all in" on Gnostic Christianity being the "authentic" Christianity. I think most scholars would disagree with a First Century composition for Thomas, and certainly few would argue that John is responding to Thomas.

Like I said, I was skeptical of the claims I cited, but I could see where a 90-130 publication is plausible. I think I can already presume that you think even less of the Robert W. Funk group, right?

That's right! Jesus' position on marriage was "One man, no woman." *NM* - 19/09/2012 11:05:55 PM 551 Views
What is the context? The canonical bible says Christ has a wife: The Church. - 19/09/2012 11:25:19 PM 855 Views
Oh please...don't confuse "wife" with "bride" - 19/09/2012 11:35:09 PM 825 Views

I would buy 200 AD, of course. - 21/09/2012 12:58:32 AM 795 Views
It's not about "buying" it - it's essentially proven at that point. - 21/09/2012 03:26:50 AM 764 Views
Yes; all I meant was that I never disputed a date around 200 AD. - 22/09/2012 12:25:41 AM 775 Views
I don't think any of the gospels were written by their purported authors. - 22/09/2012 03:36:32 AM 705 Views
