Repeal ObamaCare, for a start. But that's like taking a bucket of water out of the Titanic. - Edit 1

The problem is really overpopulation, worldwide. There is a surplus of labor because there is a surplus of humanity.
Look at the world in 1946: Europe was in ruins after war, with the Eastern part falling under the hegemony of a communist command economy that was geared to heavy industry. China was sinking into civil war. Japan was in ruins. Korea was in ruins. Most of the rest of Africa and Asia were underdeveloped. The US built everything.
Since then, not only has the world population exploded from roughly 2.5 billion to over 7 billion, but so many more of those people are competing for jobs in the global marketplace.
So, if you REALLY want to get rid of unemployment, what do you do? Encourage war, famine, disease and artificial trade barriers.
However, since no one's going to do that, there are a few things you can do:
1. Implement high standards for safety in imports, which will raise the comparative cost of Chinese imports (and really, any imports from developing or third world countries). This, combined with a high price for oil, will make outsourcing less cost-effective.
2. Reduce domestic regulation to encourage the location of new business enterprises and business expansion within the United States by making it a more attractive destination.
3. Radically simplify the corporate tax code, reducing rates significantly but also removing preferences, which helps businesses have certainty about how much they will be taxed.
4. Allow for tax free foreign direct investment of the passive variety (because giving foreign businesses in the US this advantage would hurt domestic businesses). This means investments in securities (capital gains are already tax-free, but this should apply to dividends and interest as well), land, and other forms of passive investment.
5. Repeal ObamaCare, or at least fix the fucking thing. The only beneficiaries of the law are insurance companies.
6. Drill, baby, drill - as stupid as Palin is, she was right in saying that we should develop our own oil, gas and coal reserves more. Given the rising price of hydrocarbons, this would employ a LOT of people, help reduce our trade deficit and make manufacturing in America less expensive because the power costs would be lower. Also, repeal the Obama initiatives that are closing coal plants - we have enough coal to power the US for at least 500 years. And allow the fucking Keystone pipeline already!
Those are all a good place to start. Note that Obama has always acted against his own interest if his goal has been to help the economy, because he makes it more expensive for businesses to function and he tries to shut down traditional fuel sources before anything else can take its place.
And the fucking asshole RUNS to the podium every goddamn time he speaks. The thought of four more years of that makes me want to vomit.
