organic has always been more about the process than the extra nutrition

I came up with a few straightforward questions but if you would like to ramble, I'd also like to hear any ideas, thoughts, convictions, beliefs, etc. Concerning organic food.
1. Do you think organic food is healthier/safer/more nutritious than ordinary food?
1. Do you think organic food is healthier/safer/more nutritious than ordinary food?
healthier, not as such. safer? since we still don't know the long-term effects of GMO crops on both our health and the overall environment, i will err on the side of caution. unfortunately, more and more chemicals are being introduced as "safe for organic" so i suspect the only truly "organic" food will be from home/personal gardening eventually.
2. What do you think is the most important benefit derived from organic farming?
not depleting the soil due to over-use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
3. What do you think will be the role of organic food in 20 years? Will it continue to grow in the future?
no industry can grow forever. at some point we will either reach a saturation point where regular stores carry a wide selection of organics (instead of a small selection of the most popular produce), or the world will switch back to organic farming techniques and ditch GMO crops. the cynic in me knows how well *that* will go....
4. At least the world's population will continue to grow. Is it sensible to push for organic farming with its low crop yields when people are starving?
people are not starving because of yields, they are starving because nobody wants to just give away their surplus without getting something in return. also, there are some countries who will flat out refuse any potentially GMO food.
5. Should the use of GMOS be allowed in organic farming?
what would be the point? i can already get GMO food, the organic label is supposed to mean something different than the stuff that agri-business is producing. if the organic label is just to be able to charge extra for the same product then it is meaningless and should be scrapped.

I think organic food is a luxury that few will want as food prices increase in the coming decades.

I think the organic movement is mostly a big scam: an excuse to charge more money for less food.

Actually, I believe the "no pesticides" part predates the "no GMOs" part.
