Sorry to burst your Manning bubble but he DID ride his defense

Unless you ride a defense to a Super Bowl, then you are clutch for life. My problem with Schaub is that he can't stay healthy.
PEYTON Manning certainly never rode a D to a Super Bowl; I think his line made him look better than he actually was, but after last night I am beginning to reassess that, because our line definitely did not make him shine. I do not care much for Drew Brees as a person but, again, he certainly did not ride a D to a championship. Rodgers did not either. There are clutch QBs out there; unfortunately, none of them are starting for either TX team. No one is sadder about that than I.
I remember that season vividly. I had always lamented that Peyton never had a complete team around him to win it all. During that Super Bowl season, his defense looked absolutely atricious. Then, just before the playoffs started, Bob Sanders came back from injury and, out of nowhere, the Colts began playing lights out football. Here is Peyton's stats for the playoff games:
23-8 win over KC: 268 yds, 1 td 3 int
15-6 win over Bal: 170 yds, 0 td 2 int
38-34 win over NE: 349, 1 td, 1 int
29-17 win over Chi: 247 yds, 1 td, 1 int
The defense really bailed them out on the KC and Bal games, as you can tell just by the score. I mean, they played lights out. I remember those games. The defense let them down against NE, but hey, come on, it's Tom Brady and the Pats. The Colts had to come back from 21-3 at halftime to win. And then Peyton had a very medicore game in the Super Bowl and was given the MVP by default. It was rainy that day, so I give him some leeway.
But about your points for Brees and Rodgers, I agree. They put up points to guide their teams. I was mainly referring to Eli Manning and the dumb luck he has had.

Yah, I could not get coverage, but when I saw that TD w/ 0:20 showing, I figured they were toast.

The Colts have never had a good D: They rode Manning and his line for a decade.

After watching Tracy Porter ice a game FOR Peyton last night, I am not likely to forget that.

I am in the same boat as your fiances family, hence watching the Texans trash the Titans is a blast.

Peyton Manning looked nigh on unstoppable in the second half.

Yeah, he was a machine, and the line protected him far better than I expected.

Peytons lines started going downhill after the first SB; not coincidentally, so did his performance.
