When their government is decided by votes instead of bullets we can call it a democracy.
Say huh? It was not a lost cause ten freakin' years ago when we went in there, and had we concentrated our resources there instead of in a pointless and unjustified Iraq invasion Afghanistan might have been salvaged. Regardless, are you trying to say Bushs invasion of the country that actually DID assist bin Laden destroying the WTC (one of the few things Bush did right) is somehow "the Democrats fault"? I am sure Dems would like credit for that punitive war removing a proven threat to the US, but I am afraid they are not eligible beyond assenting to the invasion Bush ordered.
EDIT: It must also not be forgotten that Bushs preoccupation with Iraq left our forces in Afghanistan undermanned and underequipped, allowing both bin Laden and most of his supporters to escape over the border to Pakistan. It was left for Obama to kill bin Laden, and we are fighting Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Pakistan now, solely because Bush allowed them to escape justice due to his pathological but misguided obsession with a Saddam who was no threat to any American.
But yeah Afghanistan is a lost cause, something Obama and so many on the left should have known when they were saying Bush should be concentrating there instead of in Iraq.
