So then you don't Bush for the 2008 when dems controlled both houses? *NM* random thoughts Send a noteboard - 05/09/2012 07:36:29 PM
Clinton signing off on their legislation does not make him solely responsible; did you not just yesterday point out Congress has far more control over new legislation than the president? Clinton shares blame for allowing their insanity to become law, yes, but once again, it is ridiculous when Republicans argue all their irresponsible disasters are the fault of Dems for not opposing Republicans enough.

But Obama is and was a big fan of pushing banks to give people loans they couldn't afford and to see he is blameless is false.

Joel the difference between me using Daily Caller and disagreeing with PolitiFact (Tampa Bay Times) is I don't claim they are the final arbitrator of the truth. If you have some evidience that they are inaccurate then show but don't ask like it is written in stone just becuase someone sprinkled it with magic factchecker fairy dust.

Facts are facts; they do not change, whoever reports them. Are you seriously claiming it is a "fact" that a national federal policy spanning two presidencies and almost an entire decade was cause solely by a young lawyer Chicago lawsuit? Can you show me any instance of Gramm referencing a Chicago lawsuit when arguing Glass-Steagall be repealed? For that matter, what does minority lending have to do with the Glass-Steagall repeal that caused the subprime mortgage disaster?

This is just the same old "minorities caused the subprime mortgage disaster, not greedy, irresponsible and often feloniously fraudulent megabanks." It is an old popular GOP deflection: Does any evidence support it? Is there a record of minority subprime loans defaulting at a higher rate than subprime loans to white people? Or is it just criminal bankers blaming their theft and fraud on poor blacks and hispanics?
