It is easy to argue anyhting if all you need to do is make the claim and then decide you are right.
So I have noticed.... 

However, in this case the terrorists had evidence to cite, even if its validity depended on ignoring how horrible things were before the new guys arrived. I have also noticed that is a valuable aid in making a false claim then deciding it is correct.
