The trying to avoid telling most of the population he thinks they are losers who will never amount to anything, that being seen as a bit of a vote loser.
A bit like Ryan's comment that was along the lines of "if you're in your 20s, living in your parents and feel like a complete failure... you're not a failure, your leaders have failed you"

They're both saying the same thing - YOU can succeed, you just need to vote for me and not the other guy who will screw up your life.
