Having watched the first 5 minutes or so of Eastwood's speech I'm not sure what to make of it

A superb piece of brave avant garde theatre, or an old man totally outside of his comfort zone.
I suspect it was the latter and no one had actually thought to tell Clint he was giving a speech until about 10 minutes before he went out there. I liked how he managed to accidentally criticise Romney repeatedly in the part of it I saw though.
