I think I remember reading him saying that Thomas Aquinas was the biggest influence on his world view.

He also made the statement you referenced, categorically rejecting Ayn Rand. So he is a bald-faced liar by his own words; as with Romneys contradictory sworn statements on Bain, the question is not IF he lied, but WHEN.
