1. How much debt did you accumulate while in college (or are tracking to accumulate for you current students)?
Just under $10,000.00 in 2 years community college, took the max I could get each semester as I was in school so I could waste what I earned @ work on fun and transportation (Commuter school).
2. What are your loan terms? How long and how much per month?
It was a few years for the loan terms and really low payment schedule, so I took it upon myself to nail it down with as much as I could pay per cycle. None now - I paid it off within a year of getting my first career job. I paid triple what I needed to and just knocked it out super-fast.
3. What was your major/area of study?
Electrical Construction and Maintenance. 2 year associates degree.
4. If you had a chance to do everything again (school, major, debt amount), would you? What would you have changed, if anything?
Yes - I would. And I don't think I'd change anything in regards to what money I did borrow or how I used it. I only borrowed an amount I knew I could pay back quickly even with a minimum wage job ... and when I did go drinking/carousing, I always made sure that I could afford it. I can only imagine what it is like now being saddled with tons of student loans for a degree that's never going to net you a job ... must be very stressful.
