One day Republicans and internet trolls alike will learn not to say weird shit to people like me. - Edit 1

See, weird shit alienates people. Like when Romney says he'll "get rid of" Planned Parenthood, or rails at Obama for being a foreign policy failure despite recently killing Bin Laden. See, normal independents don't feel very strongly about abortion and social issues, and don't want people to make a big point about them. They also kind of like birth control. Also, they feel like Obama's done a decent job in terms of foreign policy, and are really wary people who talk shit about another war. See, we don't want another fucking war. Not under any circumstances. It's a drain on everything, and can never be worth it. Iran is not Germany for us.

Now, the problem is the inevitable responses from people online, or in person, who are true believers. You'll probably out-argue me. You might out-argue me with rolled eyes, or invective, or condescension. You might say "SO YOU REALLY ARE A LIBERAL". Or it might just be 8 paragraphs of arcane reasoning. Either way, you'll win. And I hope that makes you feel good about yourselves that you won the argument, because you'll lose the vote. See, most independents don't really care to argue about it, and will just walk away. And then they'll vote for the guy who's not that fucking weird, or doesn't seem like an asshole. And despite winning every debate on cable news and on the internet and everywhere in between, somehow the Republicans will lose the election. And it won't be vote fraud, it'll be because you all came off like crazy assholes.

Note 1: This can all easily apply to the Democrats too, and does regularly. I'm just framing it this way because of the national election currently, and right now, to Independents, Obama seems less fucking weird.

Note 2: No, I don't really think I know exactly what all Independents are thinking, I'm being a bit hyperbolic. But I am speaking for my family, which is white and upper middle-class and tends to vote Republican and tends to be very politically incorrect. My family thinks the Republicans are a bunch of assholes. This is a very bad thing for the Republican party if we think this. Feel free, anyone, to say that my family's dumb or just liberals or drinking the koolaid. Feel free to win this argument! I know who we're all voting for in November, and who's fault it is.

forget for a minute whether or not you prefer one candidate over another, or their electability to the general population. i am wondering if any of the candidates can put together an organization which can pose a threat to obama's re-election. gingrich and santorum could not even get on the ballot in at least two states each. romney apparently did not have anyone working for him in ohio, he basically spent a ton of money getting ads on tv instead of actually campaigning like a real candidate.

all of this speaks to me that none of the current candidates has the organizational skills to put up a sustained, national election campaign against a president who is not as popular as he was the first time, but who definitely has the organization to put people on the ground in all 50 states.
