I haven't seen Duck Soup or Cabaret. And I was very young when I watched Citizen Kane, praised as the greatest film ever and thought: "booooring". It's not a chick flick though, I'm gonna give him that.
And possibly play down your expectations - one of the reasons for CK having that reputation is Welles' impressive amount of innovations and pioneering techniques, which of course isn't as impressive anymore now unless you're a history of cinema specialist. Still, what remains when you strip away the innovation and the titanic reputation is more than impressive enough (unlike, say, with Indiana Jones...
