I would have said several years ago that The National Review would have been a good center-right magazine to read. I think it's shifted somewhat further right since William Buckley's death, but it's certainly better than American Conservative.

The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Harper's devote parts of their magazines to political coverage (and a lot more social/cultural issues) and I'd say they are more center-left. The Nation is a bit more to the left.
