Someone must like him or the GOP would find another nominee. - Edit 1

He's winning in landslides not because people like him--many Republicans are in fact disgusted with the way in which he's haphazardly gutted the state university system--but because the Democrats have nobody with any name recognition or organization to run against him.

A familiar state of affairs, to be sure.

Looking over the Wikipedia article I did get the impression many people justifiably consider him an absentee governor, but like Isaac said, by LA standards he still has a long way to go before he qualifies as infamous. He cannot be completely AWOL if he is taking heat for using helicopters to criss cross the state addressing various local issues. While I can certainly see why those connected to the university might be critical of his policies there, LA Republicans, and Louisianans in general, are exceptional if many of them consider that a major issue; I doubt it would cost him a GOP primary even in LA or neighboring MS, let alone FL or IA. The most troubling thing may be apparent similarities with Obama, swooping in (literally) at the eleventh hour to declare victory with rushed sloppy legislation crafted like a frat boy writing a post-kegger term paper seven hours before it is due.

Again, he is your governor so you surely know more about him than I, but there are no red flags in the little I have seen from him (for Republicans at least; opposition to abortion under ANY circumstances might be a larger hurdle in a national campaign.)
