As you pointed out, neither libraries nor historians (generally) endorse the books they house nor the topics they write about (respectively). However, one can come across a library funded/staffed/maintained by a cause which carries literature endorsing/supporting said cause. The same can be said for a historian.
In this case, knowing Joel as he has portrayed himself upon these message boards, I would not be the least bit surprised if this article’s viewpoint mirrored his own…even if just to a small degree.
But just to point out, when it comes to message boards and such, more often then not, a referenced article reflects the poster’s viewpoints. If that isn’t the case, then it’s either to portray a contrast in opinion or to instigate something. On-line media (message boards, Facebook, etc.) tends to have a strong bent towards attention whoring. Sure, it can be a lot of someone saying “look at this!!!” However, its usually “look at me!!!” (with an unspoken “this is me!!!”)
