The quoted numbers show that Komen funding only supports about 4% of PP's breast cancer screenings. It's a drop in the bucket of PP's overall budget and it's got to be a drop in the bucket of all of what Komen funds (though I don't have those numbers). But that doesn't matter because you hit the nail on the head; both breast cancer and abortion are very visible and politicized issues. Once it "came out" that Komen was funding PP in any way, this became a foregone conclusion. They can't continue to fund PP without alienating PP's opponents and they can't cut it without alienating PP's supporters.
