burn more calories than you consume to lose weight. There are arguments to made about good carbs vs bad carbs and they are valid from a general health point of view but not always from a weight loss point of view.
You won't gain more weight from 200 calories of white rice then you will from 200 calories of brown rice. The white rice will make your blood sugar spike more and that might make you get hungry sooner but it won't change how much weight you gain.
So if you are willing to the price of feeling hungry sooner than you would have the occasional bad carb isn't going to affect your weight. Assuming of course that can ignore hungry for a little while.
And I know you are right in a way, but I've tried calorie control w/o the low carb angle, and it never worked anywhere near as well. I have a slow metabolism (thyroid disease), so maybe it's tied up in that. Maybe I need the extra push. Anyway, I also don't like the extra hunger. I'm always amazed to find I am NOT often hungry when my meals/snacks are more protein based, like nuts.
Still doing well on the diet. Mostly.

I usually need my iPod to distract me on walks/runs, if I don't have another person there.
